Pick the One That Looks Like You

Four operators. Four very different setups. Same equipment, same support, same lifetime warranty — and four very real ways to make a living with mini donuts. We've lightly tightened these for length. The voice is theirs.

Concession Trailer

Ed & Diana Myles

Sahuarita, Arizona · Divine Mini Donuts

Donut lovers can get their fix five days a week at the Divine Mini Donuts cart, parked at the Green Valley Government Center Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Ed and Diana picked the spot for the workers and library traffic — and the locals keep them busy.

They've been at it since July, and the Green Valley Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce gave them a ribbon-cutting on a Friday to make it official. On evenings and weekends they run Divine Mini Donuts at the Rancho Sahuarita clubhouse, the Sahuarita Farmer's Market on Wednesday nights, and Park & Rec events around town.

But the headline number came from a one-off invitation: the Tucson Electric Park during White Sox Spring Training. Ed and Diana ran their SS2400-G propane machine out of a concession trailer for the full run.

“$2,000 a day in sales. Not bad for our first year with Lil' Orbits.”
Norm Lambert at Can-West Global Park in Winnipeg
Ballpark

Norm Lambert

Winnipeg, Canada · Can-West Global Park

Norm has run his stand at Can-West Global Park — home of the local AA baseball team — since 1999. He runs an SS1200 and an SS2400 side by side, plus two mixers, because one couldn't keep up with the lines.

Every so often he hops in a rental truck and drives 450 miles from Winnipeg down to our factory in Minnesota to pick up 2,500 pounds of Lil' Orbits donut mix at a time. He's tried local mixes. His customers can taste the difference immediately.

"There's all kinds of food competition at the ballpark — hot dogs, pizza, popcorn, even another big donut outfit. But my stand is so popular they had to install cattle railings to control the waiting lines. My wife and daughter help out and we're so busy we have to make a new batch of mix every three minutes. We work 67 days per season, three hours per game. We sell our mini donuts for $3.00 and stuff 14 to 16 per bag."

“We bring in $80,000 per season, hands down.”
Rich Hogan making mini donuts at an ice fishing festival
Outdoor Festival

Rich & Sharon Hogan

Minnesota · Jaycees Ice Fishing Extravaganza, Gull Lake

Only in Minnesota. Rich and Sharon worked the Jaycees Ice Fishing Extravaganza on Gull Lake one Sunday and sold out completely — they ran out of donut fry just as the competition closed.

There was another mini-donut vendor at the festival that day. Different mix. Different machine. Customers noticed.

"Everyone told us they liked ours better. I found out later he wasn't using Lil' Orbits products, so that's that. Pass on an atta-boy to Terry — our SS2400G isn't missing a beat. She's tuned in perfect."

“We out-sold him about 10 to 1. And the extra income was great.”
Carnival Circuit

Judy Merritt

Northwoods Press · Upper Minnesota

Judy writes a column for the Northwoods Press up in upper Minnesota. She wrote about her experience with Lil' Orbits after a particularly rough trip home from a carnival convention. Here are the parts that stuck with us:

"Last Friday while I was in the cities for a carnival convention I was hit by Murphy's Law when a radiator hose broke on my way to drop off my mini donut machine for repairs at Lil' Orbits. I managed to find my way to the donut machine service department. I met Terry, their technician, and handed the machine over to him."

"When I went out to my car, steam was rolling from beneath the hood. I went back inside and asked if someone could give me a ride to the nearest service station to buy some anti-freeze. The owner of Lil' Orbits told me he could do better than that and called Terry to take a look at my car."

"In the freezing weather, Terry and Ryan cut off the end of the hose and reclamped the rest back on. Then they filled the radiator with anti-freeze. There was no charge, they said."

“I still shake my head and wonder if perhaps there is a corner of heaven called Lil' Orbits.”
